Getting a poor quality of sleep could be the root cause of other issues you may be having throughout the day. There are very simple things you do that can significantly increase your daily quality of sleep.
No Coffee After 4pm
There are an estimated 382 million cups of coffee drank every day by American adults. We all know that the caffeine in coffee is good for an energy boost to start the day. But drinking coffee late in the day can affect your quality of sleep. Caffeine remains in your blood for at least 6 hours after you drink coffee.
If you love the taste of coffee you can always get decaffeinated coffee after 4pm.
No More Long Naps
Your body has an internal clock you can throw it off by taking long naps in the afternoon. Short power naps are necessary from time to time to replenish energy in the middle of the day. But 3 to 5 hour naps can really confuse your internal clock. It’s important to keep your sleeping routine as consistent as possible.
Unplug From Technology
The blue light emitted for your smartphone, tablet, e-reader, or laptop is telling your brain its not time to sleep yet. Get all your e-mailing, texting and reading done at least an hour before you go to sleep. I would also keep your smartphone at 4 feet away from you while your sleeping to avoid interruption.
Some sleep experts say you should shut down the use of your technology at least 90 minutes before you go to sleep.
